As WidgetNest grows (which it does, remarkably) I increasingly understand the need for investment capital, or at least some start up money. There are a couple projects at WidgetNest that I think could be very successful but they require more than what we have available to us. That is okay, after all, WidgetNest is a side project; a side project that is slowly transitioning in to something else.
The need for money aside, I want to keep WidgetNest as self-sustaining as possible. What that means in the short term is that we have to wait until we have the capital to continue. That means doing more client work and more saving, and that is fine with me. It is the harder way to go, but I don't care. WidgetNest has been nothing but profitable from the beginning and I would love to see it stay that way.
It is very easy to get caught up in the excitement on the internet but I think that taking the modest, humble, and self-powered approach will prove to be the best way in the end; no one to impress, no one to let down, and if we keep a steady, upward course (where have I heard those words before?) to people on the outside it will seem one day as though we are everywhere and they will wonder where we came from. That is the goal anyway.
