Speaking of Apple Phone Show the most recent episode (#14) starts with an interesting bit about using the iPhone in journalism. Wow. How did I even miss that? I have been studying mass media and journalism closely for the last three years (granted, I am no expert) and I can't believe that I didn't make the connection. This tells me two things: 1) How revolutionary iPhone actually is - it changes the media and communications landscape. 2) Media consumers will need to be able to discern between the live, up to the minute coverage of events and the more detailed, after-the-fact journalism that is more capable of getting the good details. There is a place for instant updates but we as media consumers need to realize that all we are getting it what can be gleaned from the surface. Following up will become key. As media producers we need to ensure that the follow process is a seamless and intuitive one.
